Fuel Distance Calculator — How Far Can I Drive?
Enter how many litres of fuel you have and your vehicle's efficiency in km/L to find out how far you can drive before you run out.

How does this calculator work?
Multiply the litres of fuel in your tank by your vehicle's fuel efficiency in km/L to get the distance you can travel: Distance = Fuel × km/L. For example, 40 L at 15 km/L gives a 600 km range. Treat the result as an estimate — real consumption varies with speed, load and driving conditions.
Formula
How this is calculated
The calculation is a single multiplication: distance equals the volume of fuel in your tank multiplied by how far your vehicle travels per litre. If you have 40 litres and your car returns 15 km/L, you can travel 600 km. The calculator also expresses efficiency as litres per 100 km (L/100 km = 100 ÷ km/L) because many manufacturers and fuel economy labels use that unit instead.
The result is an estimate under steady, average driving conditions. City traffic, highway speeds, headwinds, air conditioning, roof boxes and heavy loads all affect consumption. A common rule of thumb is to allow a 10–15 % safety margin so you do not run out of fuel before reaching a pump.
If your fuel gauge shows a fraction rather than litres, check your vehicle handbook for the tank capacity, then multiply by the fraction shown (e.g. half a 60 L tank = 30 L). If your efficiency is quoted as L/100 km, convert it first with km/L = 100 ÷ (L/100 km).
Frequently asked questions
Divide 100 by the L/100 km figure. For example, 6.7 L/100 km equals 100 ÷ 6.7 ≈ 14.9 km/L.
Real-world consumption varies with speed, terrain, load, air conditioning and tyre pressure. City driving can use 20–40% more fuel than highway driving at constant speed.
Many fuel gauges show empty before the tank is truly empty, with a few litres held in reserve. For safety planning, use only the fuel you can confirm is available and do not rely on the reserve.
