How does this calculator work?
Remaining = total hours − elapsed hours. Convert to days (÷ 24) + hours (mod 24) + minutes (fractional hour × 60). Enter your total countdown and elapsed time for an instant breakdown in days, hours and minutes, plus a visual progress bar.

How this is calculated
Enter the total number of hours in your countdown (for example, 48 hours until a deadline) and optionally how many hours have already passed. The remaining time is simply total minus elapsed, capped at zero so it never goes negative.
The remaining hours are broken into whole days (integer division by 24), a remaining hours part (modulo 24), and a minutes part (the fractional hour × 60). This mirrors how a clock or calendar would express the duration — "1 day 4 hours 30 minutes" is more readable than "28.5 hours".
The progress bar shows what fraction of the total countdown has elapsed, so you can see at a glance whether you are early, halfway, or close to the deadline. If you set elapsed hours to zero, the progress reads 0% and the full countdown is shown as remaining.
Frequently asked questions
Divide the total hours by 24. The whole number part is the days; multiply the leftover decimal by 24 to get the remaining hours. For example, 50 hours ÷ 24 = 2 days remainder 2 hours.
3 days × 24 hours = 72 hours. Enter 72 in the Total hours field and the calculator confirms: 3 days 0 hours 0 minutes remaining.
This calculator is static — it does not tick in real time. It is designed for planning (e.g. "48 hours from now, 12 h have passed, how much is left?"). For a live digital clock countdown you would need a dedicated timer app.
