Dividing millimeters by 25.4 gives inches. Dividing by 304.8 (= 25.4 × 12) gives feet. Dividing by 914.4 (= 25.4 × 36) gives yards.
To express the result in feet and inches, take the whole number of feet from the decimal result, then multiply the remainder by 12 to get the inches portion. For example, 50 cm = 500 mm = 500 ÷ 25.4 = 19.685 inches = 1 foot 7.685 inches.
