How this is calculated

The accuracy of a positive pregnancy test depends on three factors combined through Bayes theorem. Sensitivity is the probability the test reads positive when you genuinely are pregnant (true-positive rate). Specificity is the probability the test reads negative when you are not pregnant; its complement (1 − specificity) is the false-positive rate. The prior is your pre-test probability — how likely pregnancy was before you took the test.
