Quick answer

How does this calculator work?

Your age in seconds = (today − birth date) ÷ 1 000, floored. A 30-year-old is roughly 946 million seconds old. Enter your birth date and today's date; the calculator returns your exact second count plus totals in minutes, hours, days, and weeks — all computed from the same millisecond difference.

Formula
totalSeconds = floor((referenceDate − birthDate) / 1 000)
How this is calculated

JavaScript represents dates as milliseconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. The calculator subtracts the birth date millisecond timestamp from the reference date millisecond timestamp to get the elapsed duration, then divides by 1 000 and floors to get whole seconds. No rounding is applied — a partial second at the end of the interval is dropped.

The same millisecond span is divided by 60 000 (minutes), 3 600 000 (hours), and 86 400 000 (days) to produce the other totals shown in the stat grid. All values are floored, so they represent complete units only.

Because only calendar dates are entered (not hours or minutes), the calculation is accurate to the day: both dates are interpreted at midnight UTC, so the result is the number of seconds in an integer number of complete days. If you know your exact birth time and want a more precise count, you can adjust accordingly — a person born at noon gains roughly 43 200 extra seconds versus midnight.

Frequently asked questions

Approximately 788 million seconds. A year has about 31 557 600 seconds (365.25 × 24 × 60 × 60), so 25 years is roughly 25 × 31 557 600 ≈ 788 940 000 seconds.

The input only accepts calendar dates, not times. Both dates are treated as midnight UTC, so the result is exact for whole days. To refine it, mentally add or subtract the seconds corresponding to your birth time.

No. JavaScript's Date uses Unix time, which ignores leap seconds (a fixed 86 400 s per day). In practice the difference is fewer than 30 seconds over a lifetime and is negligible.
