How this is calculated
You provide two inputs: a start date and an end date. The calculator first normalizes both to plain calendar days (stripping any time component) and, if the end date comes before the start, swaps them so the range is always counted forward. It then steps through the range one day at a time, inclusive of both endpoints, and inspects each day's weekday.
For every day, the weekday is read from the device's local calendar where Sunday is 0 and Saturday is 6. Any day landing on Saturday or Sunday is added to the weekend tally; every other day (Monday through Friday) is counted as a business day. Total days is simply the full inclusive span. Work weeks is business days divided by 5 and rounded to one decimal, since a standard working week is five weekdays.
The key assumption is a fixed Monday-to-Friday week, so the count is exact for the weekend rule no matter how weekends fall across the range. Its main limitation is that public holidays are not subtracted, because they vary by country, region, and year; subtract any holidays in your range manually. Time zones and partial days are ignored entirely.
About this calculator
The business days calculator counts only Monday through Friday between (and including) two dates, skipping every Saturday and Sunday. It iterates one day at a time, so the count is exact regardless of how the weekends fall across the range. The result also reports the number of weekend days excluded and the equivalent number of standard five-day work weeks.
Use it to estimate delivery and shipping windows, project timelines, payroll periods, SLA response times, and notice periods that are expressed in working days. Note that public holidays vary by country and are not subtracted automatically.
