What's new

A dated record of what we have added, fixed and improved, newest first.

Faster pages and a tidier catalogue

  • Pages now load far less JavaScript: each calculator’s explanations and FAQs load with that calculator instead of with every page, and scripts are now served compressed.
  • Category pages and the full calculator list now show released calculators only. New calculators are released in batches.
  • Fewer ad placements on calculator pages, and none on navigation pages such as the home page and category lists.
  • Rewritten About, Contact and Privacy pages, and this changelog.

Speed and references

  • Each calculator now loads as its own small file instead of one large bundle.
  • “Also known as” names on calculator pages, so you can recognise a tool by the name you know it by.
  • Health calculators (BMI, BMR, daily calories, ideal weight, water intake) now cite their sources — WHO, NHLBI, EFSA, USDA and peer-reviewed research.

Step-by-step walkthroughs

  • Most calculators now show an animated step-by-step derivation using your own inputs, ending in exactly the result shown at the top.
  • Calculators where a step list would mislead (iterative solvers, lookup tables, tax-bracket chains) deliberately have none.

Redesigned calculator pages

  • The calculator now comes first on every page, ahead of the explanations.
  • A compact result bar follows you on mobile when the main result scrolls out of view.

Country tools, citations and a public API

  • Finland and Bulgaria salary calculators, a lev-to-euro converter at the fixed rate of 1.95583, and a VAT calculator with 2026 rates for 30 countries.
  • Shareable links that keep your inputs, and ready-made citations (APA, Chicago, IEEE, BibTeX) on every calculator.
  • A free public API for common calculations, documented on the developers page.

New calculators and multilingual search

  • Hundreds of new calculators across mathematics, science, statistics, dates and everyday life, each tagged Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.
  • Net-salary calculators for Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, a term-deposit calculator, and a business-days-from-date calculator.
  • Search now understands everyday names for calculators in all 29 languages.

A chart on every calculator

  • Every calculator now includes a visualisation of its result.
  • Four equation-finder calculators (for example, a parabola through three points).
  • “How this is calculated” explanations translated into all 29 languages; mobile layout fixes.

Explanations and comparisons

  • “How this is calculated” explanations covering inputs, method, assumptions and edge cases.
  • What-If comparisons on finance calculators, and a full legal disclaimer.

23 new calculators

  • New tools for pregnancy, fitness, finance, home projects, unit conversion and dates.

29 languages

  • The site and its calculators became available in 29 languages, including all official EU languages, Russian, Ukrainian and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).
