Degrees to Radians Converter
Convert any angle from degrees to radians (or back) and see the value expressed as a tidy multiple of pi.

Conversion factor
π ÷ 180 = 0.01745329 - 2
Radians
90 × 0.01745329 = 1.570796
How does this calculator work?
Multiply degrees by π/180 to get radians, or multiply radians by 180/π to get degrees. A full circle is 360° = 2π radians, so 90° = π/2 ≈ 1.5708 rad. This converter does both directions and also shows the radian answer as a reduced multiple of π.
Formula
How this is calculated
Enter an angle and pick a direction. A full circle is 360 degrees or 2π radians, so one radian equals 180/π degrees (about 57.2958°) and one degree equals π/180 radians (about 0.0174533 rad). To go from degrees to radians, multiply by π/180; to go the other way, multiply by 180/π.
When converting degrees to radians, the tool also expresses the answer as a multiple of π. It writes the angle as the fraction angle/180 and reduces it numerically using the greatest common divisor, so 90° becomes π/2, 180° becomes π, and 270° becomes 3π/2. Angles that are not clean fractions of 180 still display a reduced fraction based on a high-precision scaling.
The meter places the converted angle on a full turn (0 to 2π radians, or 0 to 360°) and labels acute, obtuse/straight, and reflex regions. Inputs may be any finite number, including negatives for clockwise angles; the conversion is exact apart from floating-point rounding shown to six decimals.
Frequently asked questions
180 degrees equals exactly π radians, which is approximately 3.141593 radians.
Radians are the natural unit for calculus and trigonometry: derivatives of sine and cosine, arc length, and angular speed all assume radians, so formulas stay simple without extra conversion factors.
Yes. Negative angles represent rotation in the opposite (clockwise) direction and convert with the same multiplication factor.
