How does this calculator work?

Enter the quantity of each bill ($100–$1) and coin (25¢–1¢). The calculator multiplies quantity × face value for each denomination and sums them: Total = Σ (qty × face value). Bills and coins are subtotalled separately, and a bar chart shows the proportional share of each denomination.

How this is calculated

The money counter multiplies each denomination's face value by the quantity entered and sums everything up. Bills and coins are totalled separately so you can see the subtotals, and the breakdown bar shows which denominations make up the largest share of your cash.

Face values are fixed US denominations ($100, $50, $20, $10, $5, $1 bills and 25¢, 10¢, 5¢, 1¢ coins). Coin and cent arithmetic is done in integer cents to avoid floating-point rounding errors — for example, 3 quarters + 7 dimes is computed as 75 + 70 = 145 cents = $1.45 exactly.

This calculator covers circulating US currency only. It does not include $2 bills, half-dollars, dollar coins, or commemorative issues — if you have those denominations you can add their value to the $1 field as a temporary workaround.

Frequently asked questions

Sort coins by type first, then count each pile. Enter the count for each denomination in the calculator — quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies — and the total appears instantly. You can also weigh coins if you have a scale: 25 quarters weigh about 141 g.

No — the denominations are fixed to US dollars and cents. For other currencies you can still use the calculator as a general multiplier: enter the quantity of each denomination and the face values (e.g. put your €50 count in the $50 field), then interpret the result in your own currency.

To avoid floating-point errors that would make, say, 3 × $0.10 appear as $0.300000000004. The calculator internally works in whole cents and converts at the end, giving exact two-decimal results like $0.30 instead of a repeating decimal.
