How does this calculator work?
Monthly income = hourly rate × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year ÷ 12. For example, $25/hr × 8 hrs × 5 days × 52 weeks ÷ 12 = $4,333/month gross. Reduce weeks/year for unpaid leave. All figures are before tax and deductions.
Formula
How this is calculated
The calculator multiplies your hourly rate by hours worked per day, days worked per week, and weeks worked per year to produce an annual gross income. Dividing by 12 gives the monthly figure. This approach keeps the result consistent across different schedule configurations — for example a 4×10 schedule (4 days, 10 hrs each) and a 5×8 schedule (5 days, 8 hrs each) both yield the same 40-hour weekly total and therefore the same monthly income.
Weeks per year accounts for unpaid leave, seasonal work and school schedules. The default of 52 weeks represents uninterrupted full-year employment; reducing it to, say, 48 weeks models four weeks of unpaid leave and lowers your average monthly income proportionally.
All figures are gross income before income tax, payroll tax, superannuation, health insurance or any other deductions. Your actual take-home monthly pay will be lower and depends on your jurisdiction's tax rules and employer deductions.
Frequently asked questions
The calculator shows your average monthly work hours as hours/day × days/week × weeks/year ÷ 12. For a standard 40-hour, 52-week schedule that is 40 × 52 ÷ 12 ≈ 173.3 hours per month.
Use your average hours per week. If you work 35–45 hours depending on the week, enter 40 as a midpoint. For a more precise figure, track your total annual hours and divide by 12 to get a true average.
Yes. Use this calculator to find your gross monthly income (before tax), then use a take-home pay or net salary calculator for your country to estimate deductions and arrive at your net monthly pay.
