How this is calculated

You provide a calendar date (YYYY-MM-DD), an hour (0–23) and a minute (0–59), plus the UTC offset that the entered time belongs to (the "source offset") and the offset you want to convert into (the "target offset"). Offsets are picked from the standard list of fixed zones running from UTC-12:00 to UTC+14:00, including the half-hour and 45-minute zones such as +05:30, +05:45 and +08:45.

The converter first turns your entered wall-clock time into a single absolute instant by subtracting the source offset: utcMs = enteredLocal − sourceOffset (offsets are handled in minutes). That universal instant (UTC) is then re-expressed in the target zone by adding the target offset: localTarget = utcMs + targetOffset. Because both readings point to the same moment, only the clock face differs. The "time difference" stat is simply targetOffset − sourceOffset.

Large offset gaps can push the result into the previous or next calendar day, so a day-change value of +1 or -1 is reported by comparing the target date against the date you entered. The ISO 8601 output appends the explicit offset (e.g. 2026-06-27T17:30:00+05:30). These are fixed offsets only — daylight saving time is not applied automatically, so pick the offset that is actually in effect on your date.

No. It uses fixed UTC offsets you choose, so during DST you should select the offset that is actually in force on that date (for example UTC-04:00 instead of UTC-05:00 for US Eastern in summer).

When the combined offset shift crosses midnight, the converted time falls on the previous or next calendar day. The day-change field reports that rollover so the date stays unambiguous.

Several zones use non-whole-hour offsets — India is UTC+05:30 and Nepal is UTC+05:45 — so the list includes the standard 30- and 45-minute offsets alongside the whole-hour ones.
