Miten tämä laskin toimii?

Weight equals mass times gravitational acceleration (W = m × g). Enter a mass in kilograms and pick a body or custom g; the calculator returns weight in newtons. Mass stays constant, but weight shrinks under weaker gravity like the Moon and grows under stronger gravity like Jupiter or the Sun.

W = m × g
How this is calculated

Weight is the gravitational force acting on an object and is calculated as W = m × g, where m is mass in kilograms and g is the local gravitational acceleration in metres per second squared. Mass is an intrinsic property that stays constant everywhere, while weight changes with the strength of gravity, so the same mass weighs far less on the Moon than on Earth.

Select a celestial body to use its standard surface gravity (Earth 9.81, Moon 1.62, Mars 3.71, Jupiter 24.79, Sun 274 m/s²), or choose Custom to enter any value of g. The result is reported in newtons (N), the SI unit of force. The kgf figure divides the weight by standard gravity (9.80665 m/s²) to express it in kilograms-force, the everyday "kilogram of weight" used on scales.

This model assumes a uniform gravitational field at the body's surface and ignores buoyancy, rotation and altitude. Mass must be non-negative; a zero mass gives zero weight. The bar chart compares the same mass across all listed bodies so you can see how dramatically gravity affects weight.

Usein kysytyt kysymykset

Mass measures how much matter an object contains and is the same everywhere, while weight is the force that gravity exerts on that mass and depends on the local value of g.

Weight is a force, and the SI unit of force is the newton (N). One newton is the force needed to accelerate one kilogram at one metre per second squared.

The Moon's gravity is about 1.62 m/s², roughly one-sixth of Earth's, so your weight there is about 16.5% of your Earth weight even though your mass is unchanged.
