Как работает этот калькулятор?
ω (rad/s) = 2π × RPM / 60. Frequency f = RPM / 60 Hz. Period T = 60 / RPM seconds. Peripheral speed v = π × diameter × RPM / 60 m/s. Enter RPM and an optional shaft diameter to convert between all rotational units — useful for motors, wheels, fans, and engines.

How this is calculated
RPM (revolutions per minute) describes how many complete rotations an object makes every minute — common for electric motors, engines, propellers, hard drives, and fans. Converting to other units requires a simple time rescaling: dividing RPM by 60 gives revolutions per second, which is the frequency f in hertz. The period T is the reciprocal: 60 ÷ RPM seconds per revolution.
Angular velocity ω in radians per second is the standard physics unit for rotation: because one full revolution spans 2π radians, ω = 2π × RPM / 60. This is the quantity that appears in torque and centripetal-force formulas (F = mω²r, τ = Iα).
When a diameter is entered, the calculator also gives peripheral speed — the linear speed of the outermost surface. For a wheel or shaft of diameter d rotating at n rev/s, every point on the rim travels a circumference (πd) each revolution, so v = πdn m/s. This is useful for sizing belts, calculating cutting speed, or finding the speed at a wheel's contact patch.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
RPM counts full rotations per minute. Angular velocity (ω) measures the same rotation in radians per second — the SI unit used in physics equations. Convert with ω = 2π × RPM / 60 ≈ RPM × 0.1047.
Peripheral speed v = π × diameter × (RPM / 60). For example, a 0.3 m diameter wheel at 1500 RPM gives v = π × 0.3 × 25 ≈ 23.6 m/s. Enter the wheel's outer diameter in the optional field.
Car engines idle at 700–900 RPM and rev to 5000–8000 RPM. Hard drive platters spin at 5400 or 7200 RPM. Ceiling fans run at 100–300 RPM. High-speed CNC spindles can exceed 30 000 RPM.
