这个计算器是如何工作的?

Multiply the area in m² by the depth in metres (convert cm ÷ 100), then multiply by the stone bulk density in kg/m³ and divide by 1000 to get tonnes. Loose stone runs about 900–1 650 kg/m³ depending on type. Round up bags (typically 25 kg each).

公式
Volume (m³) = area × depth ÷ 100; Weight (tonnes) = volume × bulk density ÷ 1000; Bags = ceil(weight × 1000 ÷ bag size)
How this is calculated

The depth in centimetres is divided by 100 to convert to metres, then multiplied by the area to give volume in cubic metres. The volume is then multiplied by the stone's typical loose bulk density to get the weight in kilograms, which is divided by 1000 to give tonnes — the unit suppliers use for larger orders.

Bulk densities used are typical published values for loose material: crushed granite ≈ 1 650 kg/m³, river pebbles ≈ 1 550 kg/m³, limestone chippings ≈ 1 400 kg/m³, slate chippings ≈ 1 400 kg/m³, marble chips ≈ 1 500 kg/m³, and lava rock ≈ 900 kg/m³. Actual density varies with particle size, moisture content and source, so order 5–10% extra as a margin. If your supplier sells in 25 kg bags, the calculator rounds up to the nearest whole bag.

A 5–10 cm layer is typical for decorative garden mulch or path edging. Deeper layers (10–15 cm) are used for drainage purposes or areas with heavy foot traffic. If you enter a price per tonne, the estimated material cost is shown. Prices are editable estimates — check with your local supplier for current rates.

常见问题

For garden mulch and weed suppression, 5–7 cm is typical. For decorative path edging or borders, 7–10 cm. For drainage or base layers that need to support weight, 10–15 cm is common. Thinner layers can leave gaps, while very thick ones waste material.

Different rocks have different mineral compositions and therefore different densities. Dense granite (≈ 1 650 kg/m³ bulk) weighs considerably more per cubic metre than volcanic lava rock (≈ 900 kg/m³) because lava rock is porous and has many air voids. Always check your supplier's own density figure if precision matters.

Yes — adding 5–10% is advisable. Stone settles over time (reducing the effective depth), surfaces are rarely perfectly level, and there are always small losses in handling and spreading. Ordering a little extra avoids running short mid-project.
