How does this calculator work?
The antipode of (lat, lon) is (−lat, lon ± 180°). Negate the latitude to swap hemispheres and shift the longitude by 180°, wrapping to stay within ±180°. The result is the point reached by a straight path through Earth's centre. More than 96% of land antipodes fall in ocean.

How this is calculated
The antipode of a point is the location diametrically opposite it through the Earth's centre — where you would emerge if you could drill a straight tunnel through the planet. Because Earth is a sphere with 360° of longitude and 180° of latitude range, the rule is elegantly simple: negate the latitude (turning North into South and vice versa, the same number of degrees) and shift the longitude by exactly 180°, wrapping the result to stay within the ±180° range.
Latitude flips sign directly: 51.5° N becomes 51.5° S. Longitude shifts by ±180° depending on which side of the prime meridian keeps the result in bounds: −74° W becomes +106° E, and +139° E becomes −41° W. The result is displayed in both decimal degrees (the format most mapping apps use) and degrees-minutes-seconds (DMS, the traditional survey format).
Most land areas have their antipode in ocean — over 71% of Earth is water, so the probability that a random continental point maps to another continental point is only about 3–4%. Notable land-to-land antipodal pairs include the Iberian Peninsula (Spain/Portugal) and New Zealand, and parts of Argentina opposite parts of China.
