How does this calculator work?
Each Latin letter is mapped to its Unicode Mathematical Fraktur equivalent (U+1D504βU+1D537), giving ornate blackletter characters you can copy into any Unicode-aware app. Numbers and symbols pass through unchanged. The five uppercase exceptions (C, H, I, R, Z) sit at special historical Unicode codepoints rather than the sequential Fraktur block.

How this is calculated
Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block (U+1D400βU+1D7FF) contains styled variants of the Latin alphabet originally designed for mathematical notation β including Bold, Italic, Script, Fraktur (Gothic), Double-struck, and more. The Fraktur range (U+1D504βU+1D537) provides a complete aβz and AβZ in the Fraktur (blackletter) style that was the dominant typeface in German-speaking countries until the mid-20th century and that gives "Gothic" text its characteristic ornate look.
The conversion is a simple character-by-character substitution: each ASCII letter is replaced by its Fraktur counterpart using the Unicode codepoint offset. A few uppercase letters are housed at special codepoints (C at U+212D, H at U+210C, I at U+2111, R at U+211C, Z at U+2128) rather than the sequential block, because those slots were already occupied by pre-existing mathematical symbols in Unicode. Digits, spaces, and punctuation have no Fraktur equivalents in Unicode and pass through unchanged.
Because these are real Unicode characters β not images or fonts β they can be copied and pasted into any platform that renders Unicode text. However, some older operating systems, email clients, or PDF renderers may not include the necessary font glyphs and will display the characters as empty boxes (the classic "tofu" problem).

Yes β Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, Facebook, Discord and most modern apps render Unicode Fraktur characters correctly. The text is just plain Unicode, not an image, so it copies and pastes like any other text. Older platforms or plaintext email may show replacement boxes.
Unicode had already assigned C (β), H (β), I (β), R (β) and Z (β¨) to special mathematical symbols in an earlier block before the full Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block was standardised. To maintain backward compatibility, those five letters live at their original codepoints rather than the sequential Fraktur block.
Fraktur is one style of blackletter typeface; "Gothic" is a loose informal term that covers the whole blackletter family (which includes Textura, Rotunda, Schwabacher, and Fraktur). The Unicode block is officially called "Mathematical Fraktur", but on social media all these styles are colloquially called Gothic.
