Measurement Converter — Length, Mass, Area, Volume, Speed, Temperature
Convert any measurement between metric and imperial units across six categories: length, mass, area, volume, speed and temperature. Enter your value, pick the from and to units, and get a precise result plus cross-reference values in other common units.

How does this calculator work?
Select a category (length, mass, area, volume, speed or temperature), enter your value, and pick the from and to units. Formula: converted = value × fromFactor / toFactor. Temperature uses Celsius as the intermediate pivot: C = (F−32)/1.8, K = C+273.15.
Formula
How this is calculated
For all categories except temperature, every unit is stored as a multiplication factor relative to an SI base unit (metre, kilogram, m², litre, m/s). Converting from unit A to unit B is a two-step operation: multiply by A's factor to reach the base unit, then divide by B's factor. This single formula handles every pair without a per-pair lookup table.
Temperature conversions are non-linear — Fahrenheit and Rankine have both a scale factor and an offset relative to Celsius/Kelvin. The calculator converts all temperature inputs through Celsius as an intermediate: °C = (°F − 32) / 1.8; K = °C + 273.15; °R = K × 1.8. All four common temperature scales are supported.
Volume units use US customary definitions (1 US gallon = 3.785 L, not the UK imperial gallon of 4.546 L). The cross-reference grid below the main result shows the same input expressed in several other units simultaneously, so you can compare at a glance.
Frequently asked questions
°C = (°F − 32) / 1.8. For example, 98.6 °F = 37 °C. Select Temperature as the category, enter the Fahrenheit value and choose Celsius as the target unit.
No. This converter uses US customary units: 1 US gallon = 3.785 L. The UK (imperial) gallon is 4.546 L — about 20% larger. For UK imperial volumes, use a dedicated imperial converter.
A nautical mile is exactly 1,852 metres, equal to one arc-minute of latitude. 1 knot = 1 nautical mile per hour ≈ 1.852 km/h.
