Hogyan működik ez a kalkulátor?
Leet speak replaces letters with visually similar numbers and symbols: a→4, e→3, i→1, o→0, s→5, t→7. Enter your text, pick basic or advanced mode, and the translator maps each letter to its leet substitute. Non-letter characters (spaces, punctuation) are left unchanged.

How this is calculated
Leet speak (1337 speak) originated in the 1980s on early bulletin board systems, where hackers replaced letters with numbers or symbols that look similar: E becomes 3 (flipped E), A becomes 4 (like a capital A), O becomes 0 (zero), S becomes 5 or $, and so on. The name "leet" itself comes from "elite," typed as 31337 or 1337 in leet notation.
Basic mode applies the most widely recognised substitutions — the seven or eight core letter-to-number mappings that virtually everyone reading leet speak recognises. Advanced mode adds symbol substitutions like H→# and B→8, and multi-character replacements like K→|< or V→\/ that look more dramatic but are harder to read.
The substitution is applied character by character: each letter is looked up in the map, and if a match exists it is replaced; everything else — punctuation, spaces, digits — is left exactly as written. Because leet speak has no official standard, conventions vary between communities; this calculator implements one common convention.
Gyakran ismételt kérdések
"Leet" comes from "elite" and was adopted by hacker culture in the 1980s on bulletin boards to create an in-group language. Written as 1337 or 31337, it replaces letters with numbers or symbols that look visually similar, originally to evade content filters and to signal membership in a community.
Basic mode replaces only the most common letters (a→4, e→3, i→1, o→0, s→5, t→7, g→6, z→2). Advanced mode extends this with additional substitutions like b→8, h→#, s→$ and multi-character replacements like k→|< — resulting in text that looks more "hacker-like" but is harder to read.
The reverse translation is ambiguous because different communities use different conventions and some substitutions map multiple letters to the same symbol (e.g. both L and I map to 1 in some dialects). A perfect reverse converter is not possible without a dictionary lookup to disambiguate.
