Mode Calculator — Find the Most Frequent Value
Enter a list of numbers to find the mode — the value (or values) that appear most often — plus the frequency distribution and whether the data is unimodal, bimodal, or multimodal.
Ako táto kalkulačka funguje?
The mode is the value that appears most often in a dataset. Count the frequency of each value; the one(s) with the highest count are the mode(s). A dataset can be amodal (no repeats), unimodal (one peak), bimodal (two peaks), or multimodal (multiple peaks). Unlike the mean, the mode is unaffected by extreme outliers.

How this is calculated
The mode is the value that occurs most frequently in a dataset. Unlike the mean or median, the mode is a simple count: tally how often each distinct value appears, then return the value with the highest count. If two values share the highest frequency the data is bimodal; if three or more share it, it is multimodal. If every value appears exactly once there is no mode — the dataset is described as amodal.
This calculator splits the input on commas, spaces, or semicolons, parses each token as a number, and builds a frequency map. The mode(s) are selected as all values tied for the maximum frequency. The bar chart at the bottom ranks the values by frequency so the distribution is immediately visible.
The mode is the only measure of central tendency that works for categorical (nominal) data, as well as numeric data. It is most informative when data clusters around one or a few values and less meaningful for continuous numeric data where almost every value is unique. In a symmetric normal distribution the mode equals the mean and median; in skewed distributions they diverge.
Často kladené otázky
If every value in the dataset appears exactly once, no value is more frequent than any other and the dataset has no mode (it is called amodal). This is common in continuous numerical data where repeats are rare.
Yes. A dataset with two equally most-frequent values is bimodal; three or more equally most-frequent values make it multimodal. All values that share the maximum frequency are reported as modes.
Only in a perfectly symmetric, unimodal distribution (like the normal distribution) are the mean, median, and mode all equal. In skewed data they differ — the mode is the distribution's peak, the median is the middle rank, and the mean is the arithmetic average.
