How does this calculator work?
Annual wage = hourly rate × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year. For a standard 8 h/day, 5 days/week, 52-week year: annual = hourly × 2,080. Enter your rate in any period and the schedule fields to get all equivalent pay rates. All figures are gross — apply your effective tax rate separately to estimate take-home pay.
Formula
How this is calculated
Every wage or salary can be expressed as an annual figure by anchoring on an hourly rate. The calculator first converts the entered amount to an hourly rate using the work schedule you provide (hours per day, days per week, weeks per year), then multiplies out to daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and annual totals.
The yearly figure uses the formula: annual = hourly × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year. This assumes all weeks and days in the schedule are worked at the same rate, with no overtime premium. Adjust the weeks-per-year input downward if you take unpaid leave or do not work a full 52-week year.
All figures are gross (before tax). Real take-home pay depends on progressive tax brackets, social security or national insurance contributions, pre-tax deductions (pension, health insurance) and local rules — these vary by country and personal circumstances. For an after-tax estimate, use the wage calculator with a tax-rate input on this site.
Frequently asked questions
Multiply the hourly rate by the number of hours worked per year: hourly × hours/day × days/week × weeks/year. For a standard 40-hour, 52-week year: hourly × 40 × 52 = hourly × 2,080. For example, $25/hr × 2,080 = $52,000/year.
A common assumption is 2,080 hours (8 hours/day × 5 days/week × 52 weeks). In practice most salaried employees work closer to 1,960–2,000 hours after subtracting vacation, public holidays and sick leave. Adjust the "weeks per year" field to match your actual schedule.
No — it assumes a flat hourly rate for all hours. If some hours are paid at a premium rate (e.g. 1.5× for overtime), calculate regular and overtime hours separately and add the results. Similarly, bonuses, commissions and benefits are not included.
