此計算機如何運作?
The midrange equals (minimum + maximum) ÷ 2 — the midpoint of the data's full span. It is the simplest central-tendency measure but is highly sensitive to outliers. Enter your numbers to get the midrange alongside the mean, median and range for comparison.
公式
How this is calculated
The midrange is the simplest measure of central tendency: it locates the midpoint between the smallest and largest values in a data set. To find it, identify the minimum and maximum, add them together, then divide by two. Unlike the mean, the midrange depends only on the two extreme values and ignores everything in between.
Because only the extremes are used, the midrange is highly sensitive to outliers. A single unusually large or small value pulls it far from where most data points actually cluster, making it misleading for skewed or heavy-tailed distributions. It is most reliable when the data is roughly symmetric and you need only a quick centre estimate, or when quickly comparing the midpoints of multiple data ranges side by side.
The range (max − min) tells you how spread out the data is, while the midrange marks where that spread is centred. The calculator also shows the mean and median alongside the midrange so you can immediately see how closely these three measures agree — large disagreement is a signal of skew or outliers in the data.
常見問題
The midrange is (minimum + maximum) ÷ 2. It is the midpoint of the data's full span and the simplest measure of central tendency. It is quick to calculate but can be distorted by a single outlier value.
The mean averages all values; the median is the middle value when sorted; the midrange averages only the two extremes. The midrange is fastest to calculate but most vulnerable to outliers, since a single extreme value shifts it significantly without affecting the median.
Use the midrange for a quick estimate of a data set's centre — for example, reporting the midpoint of a day's temperature range (average of high and low). Avoid it when outliers are likely or when you need a statistically robust measure of centre.
