How does this calculator work?
Total watch time = Seasons × Episodes × Episode length (in minutes), then convert to hours. Divide by your daily viewing hours for days to finish. At two hours per day, a 6-season show with 13 episodes of 50 minutes takes about 32.5 hours total — roughly 16 evenings.
Formula
How this is calculated
The total watch time is simply the product of the number of seasons, the episodes per season and the average episode length in minutes, converted to hours. For shows with varying episode lengths (common in prestige dramas or reality TV), use the average of a representative episode — or rerun the calculation for each season separately and add the results.
Days to finish is the total hours divided by how many hours per day you watch, giving you a calendar estimate. A typical binge at two hours per day takes far longer than most people expect: a ten-season series with 22 episodes of 45 minutes each adds up to 165 hours — over 82 days of two-hour evening sessions.
This calculator gives pure viewing time and does not account for intro skipping, re-watches, pauses or sleep. Streaming platforms typically quote durations that include the opening and closing credits, so the actual story time is slightly shorter.
Frequently asked questions
Enter an average episode length across all seasons, or calculate each season separately by adjusting the inputs and adding the totals. For example, if seasons 1–3 run 42 minutes and seasons 4–5 run 55 minutes, calculate each group separately.
TV series accumulate rapidly: a show with 8 seasons of 20 episodes at 45 minutes each totals 120 hours — five full 24-hour days of non-stop viewing. At a realistic two hours per day that is 60 days of nightly watching.
Yes — enter 1 season, the number of films or episodes as "episodes per season", and the average runtime. The formula is the same: count × length.
